The Beekeeping Academy of Slovenia (BAS), is the only government-sponsored agricultural institution in the world teaching beekeeping using the AŽ hive system. The AŽ hive, developed in Slovenia during the beginning of the 20th century, is the most widely utilized system of beekeeping. This hive, used for over a century, is a major component of Slovenia’s vast knowledge of beekeeping and agricultural practices. We strongly encourage practitioners of our hives to explore educational offerings through BAS, in order to receive knowledge about proper management of their AŽ hive products.
